An entrepreneur and real estate investor for more than three decades, Richard Maize is also a prominent philanthropist based in the LA area. As principal officers at the Rochelle and Richard Maize Foundation, he and his wife partner with a wide variety of nonprofit and charitable organizations focused on youth education and development, family services and social welfare, and culture and the arts. Maize’s years of work building and selling one of the country’s largest mortgage banking firms and his successful real estate investments have allowed him to give back to the Southern California community and beyond.
The Rochelle and Richard Maize Foundation has made major financial and other contributions to nonprofits such as the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) and Share 4 Children (Share, Inc.), which assists neglected and abused young people and those with developmental disabilities. The foundation is a key supporter of educational and mentoring initiatives that benefit disadvantaged youth.
On the international stage, Richard Maize and his wife have also lent strong support to Israeli institutions and programs, notably Sheba Medical Center, which provides life-saving medical care and research in Tel Aviv.
Closer to home, the foundation has participated in fundraising efforts to assist National Jewish Health, the world’s only major medical facility dedicated to research and treatment of pulmonary, immune system, and cardiac diseases. The foundation has also supported Lupus LA and the Chase Foundation’s annual golf tournament to benefit pediatric cancer research.
Through its support for regular clothing drives in the Los Angeles area, Rochelle and Richard Maize’s foundation helps provide clean, warm, and work-appropriate clothing to people trying to put their lives back together while experiencing homelessness.
Richard Maize additionally holds positions on the Cedars-Sinai Board of Governors and the boards of the American Cancer Society and Vista Del Mar Child and Family Services.
